First, before I begin this post, I wanted to apologize for being gone so long. I moved to another location in Arizona and have been unpacking! Thank you to you all for your readership!
Now, on to the post!
When people come together, it can be magical. On January 23rd, 2012, it happened. Thirty one volunteers came together to sell raffle tickets at the Phoenix Coyotes hockey arena in Glendale Arizona to raise money for Jen’s Thank You Alliance (www.jensthankyoualliance.org)
$7,000 was raised in one night!! With about $1,000 going to each individual, the charity can reach another 7 young adult cancer survivors who are in need! Amazing!
If you have never sold raffle tickets before at an arena, it takes some special people to pull it off. Yelling 50/50 raffle to the public can be intimidating! Some of the volunteers may have been out of their “element” but it did not show. Each one showed why they are there. Not for themselves, but for someone who they have never met, nor know anything about the person. That’s what is called “True Human”.
True Human is a term I coined for the love of people. It showed that night. It continues to show now and then. I wish is happened more often.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU VOLUNTEERED? DESCRIBE HOW YOU FELT AFTERWARDS…
